Figure 7.2
Atom number and temperature for given waveplate angle. The polarisation angle is deduced from the fit in the figure and the waveplate angle.

Figure 7.4
Experimental data for oscillations in 1064nm trap.

Figure 7.6a, 7.6b
Populations in momentum order for K-D diffraction. Each point is normalised to the total atom number in that shot (including orders not listed)

Figure 7.6c
Image file as shown in the figure.

Figure 7.8
Data with statistical error bars are given as in the figure. Also given are the numbers from each individual shot, from which these error bars are taken.

Figure 7.9
Experimental data are given for both the -2 state ( |-2(1,3)d(0,3)>, black in figure) and -6 state ( |-6(2,4)d(2,4)>, red in figure).

Figure 7.10
Data with statistical error bars are given as in the figure. Note these are width^2 and TOF ^2
Also given are the numbers from each individual shot, from which these error bars are taken.

Subfolder: K-D simulation
This is the simulation code for the model of Kapitza-Dirac scattering explained in the text and used in figure 7.6
"KD Main Program.py" includes a command-line interface for the model.
A working data set is given as "ExampleData.csv". This shows the correct data format, and is readable by the simulation interface program.
"Data averager.xlsx" is a tool we used to help average the vertical and horizontal numbers from the raw images, and normalise the numbers. Use it at your own risk.
